Tyler Claxton - Head Coach
Tyler Claxton is excited to get started leading and guiding Champaign Middle School Wrestlers to success on and off the mat. A Central Illinois native, Tyler wrestled in Fisher, IL as a child, TN as a youth, and finally at Central High School. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Environmental Studies and Geography, and coached as an assistant for K-12 wrestling in Challis, Idaho. A GIS Consultant by trade, Tyler is also a certified substitute in the district.

John Tomala - Assistant Coach
John Tomala hails from Lemont, IL, a suburb of Chicago. He is currently a senior majoring in accounting and is involved with the Illini Wrestling Club, among many others, on campus. In high school, he wrestled and played football. He cites his high school coaches as some of his best role models and is looking forward to hopefully playing that role for some of the wrestlers.
Jeremy Smith - Assistant Coach
Jeremy Smith is originally from Chicago, IL. and has resided in Champaign, IL for the past 10 years and runs the Fatherhood Initiative Program for Community Elements. He has attended Parkland College and received a degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelors through Eastern Illinois University in Psychology. He began his wrestling career when he was in Junior High with the Chicago Park District and continued through High School where he was coached under Carmelo Flores who was a former Olympian in the 1980's. He was a two year letter winner in wrestling and a four year letter winner in football. He has also coached Junior High Football and Weightlifting. He is also a mentor through the "One to One" program and an assistant of the "Young Gentleman's Club" at Franklin Middle School where he also worked as a Teachers Assistant.
